USS Yorktown PG-1 - Outboard Profile

The Outboard profile is a side view of the starboard side. This sheet is dated December 1898 upon Yorktown's recommissioning.


USS Yorktown PG-1 - Spar Plan and Outboard Profile

The Spar Plan often was combined with rigging information. This version is simplified and very similar to the Outboard profile above.


USS Yorktown PG-1 - Inboard Profile

The Inboard profile is a cut-away view drawn on the centerline of the ship and shows centerline compartments.


USS Yorktown PG-1 - Plan of Spar, Forecastle, and Poop Decks

The forecastle and poop decks on Yorktown were the uppermost decks and were not a single unbroken deck. The Poop deck was the aft upper deck and the forecastle the forward one. Amidships was the spar deck, one level below and with some open overhang from the decks above. The poop deck was also the main deck, being the upper-most continuous deck, and is marked as such in the transverse cross sections in the upper center of this sheet.

This sheet shows the shape of the hull from verious viewpoints. The body plan is on the left, with the sheer above the half breadth on the right
