USS Birmingham CL-62 was a Cleveland-class cruiser that served in WWII and afterwards until 1947. In just over two years' time in actions in the Atlantic, Mediterreanean, and Pacific theaters, she racked up nine battle stars. What is also impressive is that she completed this record despite being heavily damaged enough to necessitate return to the US mainland for repairs twice.
